Because people have developed a notion that only IITians earn a huge salary, marry a good looking person, and settle in the US! Just try the following test to know how many parents want their children to study in IIT.

If there’s a school going student in your locality, ask him/her whether their school has special coaching for IIT/NEET. 95% of the chances are YES.

Every parent’s desire is to raise their children to the level they didn’t go. I upvote this, but this is not only possible thru JEE. There are many more things a champ can excel in, rather than these two fields.

Identify the talent that a student has: be it arts, dance, literature, etc. Anything that is unique and appealing in this world, sells at a high rate.

The problem is not only with the parents but also with the students. You should convince your parents that you’re not interested in it and want to pursue something else.
