June 28, 2019 — along with Dr. Rajasekhar’s Kalki, another movie released, which is made by a team of young talents with many Telugu things, starting from the title (many of my friends asked me the meaning of it) to the songs, and characters and it was well-received by the audience.

Brochevarevaru Ra — second feature film of Vivek Athreya, the filmmaker who made his debut with a decent hit “Mental Madhilo”. Though Mental Madhilo has a not-so-new story, it has some freshness to which people got connected. After his debut, he went on to make “Brochevarevaru Ra” with Sree Vishnu again, but with an ensemble cast including Satya Dev, Nivetha Pethuraj, Nivetha Thomas, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Priyadarshi.

I enjoyed a lot throughout the movie for it’s quirky and healthy comedy, feel-good scenes, and crazy twists and moments. For me, Vivek Athreya’s writing is the Hero of the movie. The casting was perfect, and the music enhanced the feel of the movie.

Spoiler Alert — I recommend you to watch the film before reading this article.

There are many moments in the movie that are Loved, enjoyed, and applauded. Here are some moments that people in my circle liked and discussed:

రాయని కథనే రాసేనే కాలం
రాసిన కథకే వేసేనే తాళం

  1. #metoo movement:
This is the core element of the movie. The way the scene is written, executed is so good that you will feel uncomfortable when the teacher touches Mithra inappropriately. The director himself revealed in an interview that it is inspired by an incident happened to his friend. Sree Vishnu should be appreciated for choosing this Script.
  2. The struggle of a filmmaker
Vishal, played by Satya Dev is a reflection of the lives of many filmmakers. The very first song of the film, “Vaale Chinukule” conveys his struggle with time. There are two scenes which I loved: 1) Vishal narrating a scene to his Cat; 2) Vishal talking to Shalini about his parents’ reaction to his decision on coming into films and tearing his educational documents.
  3. Telugu Lyrics
This is the most important and appreciable work of this movie team. Except for very few English words in one/two songs, I didn’t find the deliberate addition of English words in the lyrics of all songs. Special mention to Hasith Goli who also wrote “Vaale Chinukule”, “Putukku Zara Zara” songs alongside the celebrated “Vagaladi”. He worked with Vivek Athreya in the direction department for Vivek’s two films. Kudos to Bharadwaja for writing the “Doragari” song.
The team also uploaded videos on Lyrics which is a must-watch for Telugu lovers: https://youtu.be/IGdH5fE3jfQ

పలికినాదిలె చిలక జ్యోస్యమే పనికిరామని మేమే
తెలిసి పిలిసే సిలకవు నువ్వే కాస్త అలుసిక ఇవ్వే

4. Music
Listen to the songs and background score of this movie. Those fresh voices and the subtle music that doesn’t dominate the lyrics. Probably one of the best collaboration in the NEW AGE CINEMA! Can’t stop praising Swara Swagger Vivek Sagar ❤

I loved “Vaale Chinukule” and “Chalaname Chitramu”(because of Bhadra Rajin’s beautiful voice) apart from “Vagaladi”

5. Characters
It is not a Hero/Heroine-centric movie. The characters are plot-driven and every character is written so well and they contribute to the movie. For instance, take Subba Rao & her father, Rajesh Khanna’s character (Bhel Puri friend), and Kamakshi.

6. Harshavardhan
Yes. Thanks to Vivek for writing a beautiful character to him. Our childhood’s Amruth Rao can be seen in a good character after so many years. You start laughing continuously once he appears on the screen, and in the second half, you appreciate his dialogues about Mithra and her situation.

The movie is now available on Amazon Prime. Watch it again and recommend it to Non-Telugu friends to show how good Telugu cinema is evolving!

P.S: I deliberately didn’t write about the performances and dialogues. You should watch the movie to appreciate them 😊
